these technology companies, making sure that we can work with other cities. i am very lucky to be part of the u.s. conference of mayors, and they allow me to represent san francisco as the innovative center for all the rest of the cities across the country. so we get to compare information and there. what these days i will get to talk to you while i am in washington, d.c., and you can hear what i am saying across there, so we can enjoy it -- wherever i go, you know i will be working and not fooling around. finally, we also are using technology to join our private companies in hiring san franciscans. hopefully some of your kids, some of your grandkids as well, are going to enjoy some of these great jobs in san francisco, because the companies that are here, many of them have agreed to use the virtual hiring practice called hiresf.org and share the technology to hire online send franciscans. we're doing the right here in our great city. i have a chief innovation officer, jane, who is working in my office. he keeps a good connection for both me and them members of the board of supervisors to share

and a solution that would provide the kind of transit efficiency for the city, and i'm also in support of having no extractions in north beach. speaking directly to the proposed resolution today, the three appreciatevxeses, preference number 1 is to evaluate option 4 which is a favorite option so far from what i have heard. however, the way that the resolution was written, much has to depend on whether additional environmental review is necessary. and as of today from mr. funge's report or update, it appears that it may be, it may be not. [speaker not understood]. let's put it that way. preference number 2 is option 3, which again, i think has the same environmental review issue that comes to this. the last we saw -- i have the most objections to [speaker not understood] rifkin ha termed the last report ultimate [speaker not understood], that is really an issue. because i think in the community meeting that we have, that is two options that everybody opposed or overwhelmingly opposed. i think, of course, this is the ultimate default and i -- hopefully that won't happen. lastly, i'd like to reque

that's about 60 miles northeast of new york city. the police say at least 26 people were killed, 18 of them were children. the gunman is identified as ryan lanza. he is dead. we don't know yet how he died. the police say he died in the school. he was in his early 20s, perhaps 24 years old, originally from the newtown area. lanza's mother was a teacher at this elementary school and most of the shootings occured in her classroom. she and some of her students were killed. also, a body was found in a home connected to lanza and the motive for these shootings is not known at this hour. i want to go now to john miller as we are still grappling with this terrible tragedy which i think melissa mackriss, a mother put it so well. this is a parents' worst nightmare. certainly parents of those school children who heard this news rushed to the school, many of them reunited with their children but some parents learned the very sad news that their children had been killed and have been with the governor of connecticut and others who are speaking with them. i know you've been speaking with your law
